I wonder though: Did your mother forbid you from having a relationship with the JWs? Were you then inspired to carry on a secret relationship? Were you inspired as a 14 year old girl to have special relationship with an a adult male elder?
What the heck are you talking about?????? Where does it say anything in the article about her having with an adult male elder? (btw, do you know any elders that are not adult males?)
Some of you are reading way too much into this article. Yes it makes being a JW look like the most wonderful thing in the world, yes its probably meant to send a message to young JWs that they should be "happy" that they get to go to the Kingdom Hall. Its typical JW propaganda, nothing more. What do you expect to find in the Awake! magazine?

I just realized that my situation has some similarites to hers. She is even the same age I am. When my parents divorced, my mother married a non-JW, got DF'd, then reinstated, but basically was inactive from that point on. So at age 14, I too had little contact with the dubs, but I read all the literature I could get my hands on, and tried to attend meetings and go out in service, with little help from my parents or the congregation. Loking back now, the main reason I did it was because the "troof" was an escape from a really really crappy home life, probably just like it was for Nelly.
I too grew up, got baptised, turned down higher ed, pioneered, married a dub, blah blah blah. The only difference is I finally realized it was all a load of crap and got the heck out. Maybe Nelly someday will wake up too... She will be here on JWD as Jehovahyoufoundme, with that picture of herself as a kid as her avatar....

Got re-married studied again, (nothings changed).
by PinTail inyup i studied again, after eight years and being shunned asfter .
reinstatement and staying away for eight years with an old brother, he was a good teacher kind and all, but when it came to the subject of the society's view on child abuse and shunning i heard the same old idiotic excrement.
i thought they have changed in view of all the law litigations.

I thought of the old lineage "where else can you go for sayings of everlasting life" blah blah blah.
I guess its the (" your going to be destroyed feeling") that comes over me, sometimes old fears die hard.
It looks like their teachings are still hanging over your head. It's hard, but once you realize its all a load of #$&, hopefully you can lose the fear. Do some reading, here and other sites like Quotes', so that you can get to the point where you can see they are no different than any other religious Bible-thumping fundy group. What if potential convert sat in back of K.H. and talked w/ shunned j.w.'s?
by hubert ini've been hearing a lot about shunned j.w.
's having to sit in the back of the kingdom halls when they go to meetings.. so, what would happen if a new bible study person went to the kingdom hall for sunday meeting, (or whatever) and sat in the back of the hall, and talked to the shunned j.w.'s?
also, are there always shunned j.w.

One other thing I noticed is that anytime an individual who Disfellowshipped (an ousting punishment given to baptised persons) or Disassociated (an ousting punishment given to unbaptised persons) came to a meeting (with permission from the elders), it was usually made known to the congregants that this person was attending and would be segregated.
When a person (whether baptised or not) who was under Public Reproof it was announced to the congregants.
Unbaptised persons are not Disassociated. The only "punishment" they can receive is that they might be announced as no longer being an "Unbaptised Publisher", assuming they even were a publisher. Likewise, they cannot be Public Reproved, probably not privately either.
I have never heard of an announcement being made that someone DF'd would be attending, or that they needed permission from the elders first.

I had a talk with my Bible study daughter tonight...interesting responses.

would get disfellowshipped?.
she was very responsive, and gave me these answers.

Her... "No other reason.... I ask questions all the time, and they answer them, or show me where I can find the answer in the Bible".

I went to the assembly today, fun!
by jwbot inok, mike and i went to the circuit assembly today at the mca at the university of maine (where i go to school).
we made it through the first half and it went faster than i thought.. .
this is me and my friend jenn (another ex-jw) the night before the assembly at 10:30pm getting drunk before heading out to the bar where we got really drunk and danced and had a great time.

JWs Live In Their Own Little World
by minimus inone thing i'm convinced of is that jws live in their own little bubble.
the world could be in chaos around them but not missing a meeting is what's most important.
children of jws could be going thru teenage trauma or even molestation, but are they getting their "time" in??
